After almost 20 years working as a barrister, I came into politics in July 2024 to serve the community I love.
Folkestone and Hythe is where my children grew up, where I served as a trustee of a local charity, and where the most beautiful coastline, sunrises and sunsets unite the community in a love for this wonderful area.
My mother worked as a care assistant her whole life, having come here from the Philippines in the 1970s. My father was an engineer from London. My parents’ values of hard work, respect and compassion drive everything I do.
Folkestone and Hythe was for so many years forgotten by Westminster. Not any longer.
As your first ever Labour MP, I will fight every day to improve your lives and be your voice in Parliament, so we can make this area the best it can be for everyone.

We need to look at other models of ownership in the water sector, like we've done with rail.

The Danny Gallivan Trust provide essentials to homeless veterans in Folkestone - including hot meals every week.
It was heartening to meet the founder, Kerry, and her colleagues and see the level of dedication it takes to pull off an operation like this. They’re even setting up a Christmas dinner in Romney Marsh so that no one has to be alone on Christmas Day.
It’s #localheroes like this who remind me of the community spirit we all need to see - truly inspiring.
It goes without saying that there shouldn’t be homeless veterans. I’m determined to do all that I can to end homelessness and I know there’s much more to do on this front.
As a start, I’m glad that the Government are upgrading 40,000 military homes and allowing service personnel and veterans priority access to housing on MOD land as well as an extra £12 million going towards vital homelessness services through the Reducing Veteran Homelessness programme. This will benefit 1.8 million veterans across the UK.
Thank you to Kerry and her team for all the crucial support they provide! Find out more information on their page and see how you can get involved.

📈We must work to make Britain affordable again.📈
"If we are to truly tackle poverty in our country we must raise public spending, but even more importantly embark on a cost control strategy to make Britain affordable again."

It really is a magical time of year - especially at the Malthouse in Hythe. I was joined by the Chair of FHDC and Hythe Councillor Anita Jones to chat with business owners in the Malthouse.
I know businesses on Hythe High Street face problems more broadly and I hope to work with the Hythe Business and Tourism Association to see how we can support our local shops and business owners.
If you’re thinking of doing any Christmas shopping this week - head to the Malthouse!

Community Art Kent CIC host accessible creative workshops for adults to improve social cohesion, reduce social isolation and improve wellbeing. Their workshops take place in community settings and they also have self led groups. I was glad to catch Charlotte and attendees at one of their sessions at Wood Avenue Library!
